Kindergarten
Established in January 1986 to provide a methodological kindergarten education to children with the aim of changing the existed Montessori system in Sri Lanka which was originally introduced for disabled children in Italy by Mrs Maria Montessori. The final goal is to make a well cultured citizen by giving a proper Young child education to the Sri Lankan Children.
Since then the kindergarten has become very popular due to the stringent standard and methods adhere. The Children’s Secretariat of the Ministry of Child Development and Women Empowerment has accepted and recommended the NCEF kindergarten as a model for other kindergartens in the island.
In addition to the Kindergarten in the Headquarters premises it has 27 affiliated Kindergartens spread through out the island. Regular Seminars and Workshops are conducted to update the knowledge of the teachers in these kindergartens.
A well planned annual programme has been introduced in the NCEF kindergarten and affiliated kindergartens to allow the young child to expose to the society gradually.
In addition to the above programmes Parents meetings and shramadana campaigns are held in every month.
Also children are being given the task of collecting trash such as polythene etc for 5 minute daily after worshipping the Lord Buddha in the morning to keep the environment clean.
Also in order to evaluate the progress of the kindergarten and performance of staff Rev Dr. Somawansa Thero conducts weekly staff meetings with teachers.
